In the late 1920s and 1930s, Locust Street was known as Auto Row. Various makes and models of automobiles were shown and warehoused by distributors and deals in the buildings along Locust Street. The building at 2801 Locust Street was home to the Mississippi Valley Motor Company, the distorter of the first Oakland Pontiac automobile in St. Louis. It is in this building that NEO on Locust, St. Louis' newest private indoor/outdoor private event space, is located.
