Great Autumn Locations

Among the benefits of working in catering are the opportunities to meet so many creative clients and share their passion for events. Particularly, we love the chance to experience new off-premise locations. It could be a beautiful home or even a wonderful winery less than 30 minutes away…as the Dr. Seuss book says, ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ Recently we had such an experience catering a corporate event in St. Charles County. With the Covid situation, many events are moving to indoor/outdoor facilities and 370 Lakeside Park is such a location. We had never worked there and were amazed by what a fantastic place it was to host an event. They had a kitchen (which is very rare for parks) and a covered pavilion with seating for up to 300 guests.

After it was said and done, we asked ourselves, how did we not know about these locations sooner? The discussion lead to the structure of this email. How many other places do we know of and wouldn’t it be helpful to share with our contacts? After a quick internal survey, here is the list we created:

370 Lakeside Park
St. Peters

This is such easy access, right off Highway 370! We just catered a corporate event there. The pavilion settings are beautiful, and the park staff were very helpful. They have two pavilions that can be rented for a very reasonable cost, including the Sunset Pavilion that seats about 100, and the larger Corporate Pavilion that has a courtyard in the middle of two covered areas for seating and activities. They have the nicest picnic tables and most comfortable chairs I’ve ever seen at an outdoor venue, which are included with rental of the pavilions. There is typically a lovely breeze coming off the lake that makes it very comfortable even in warm weather. It is a great place to host an event!

They have a 140-acre recreational lake for fishing and boating, with hiking and biking trails around the lake. You can also camp here! They have an RV park, group campground sites, a water splash pad, and an archery range. If you want a very quick getaway, or are looking a beautiful, natural setting for hosting an event, or just walking or a bike ride, this place is ideal! They also have a dog park, but you must be a member to use it.  You do need a fishing license to fish on the lake, which you can purchase for the day at their concession building, and you can rent canoes or kayaks, or bring your own. The fishing license is free to St. Peters’ residents.

Laumeier Sculpture Park

One of our favorite attractions in the St. Louis area is Laumeier Sculpture Park. It is also a great place to while away an afternoon as you enjoy a picnic lunch. The park is not only a great place for outdoor beauty, but it is also a wonderful place for art lovers who particularly enjoy sculpture. The park is open at 8:00 a.m. and one-half hour after sunset, so whether your picnic is lunch or an early dinner, you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you leave time to enjoy a stroll through the park to enjoy the art. Take a guided tour or set off on your own. Either way, it is a great way to augment your picnic experience.
